Dr Riyaad Moydien is a Specialist Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon. After completing his MBChB degree at the University of Cape Town in 2006, Dr Riyaad Moydien went on to complete his internship training in Gauteng at Kalafong Hospital. On returning to Cape Town in 2009, he worked as a Community Service Medical Officer at Elsies River Community Hospital for 6 months followed by 6 months at Khayelitsha District Hospital.
In 2011 Dr Riyaad Moydien took up a post at Groote Schuur Hospital where he completed his registrar training in General Surgery. At the same time, he also completed a Masters of Medicine in Surgery from the University of Cape Town medical school, for which he received a distinction for his dissertation. After completion of his specialist training in 2015, Dr Moydien, now a qualified Specialist General Surgeon, worked as a Consultant General Surgeon and Trauma Surgeon in the Trauma Unit of Groote Schuur Hospital.
Dr Moydien then went on to further super-specialise in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and completed his fellowship at Groote Schuur Hospital in 2018. Upon obtaining his certificate in the Sub-Speciality of Vascular Surgery of the College of Surgeons of South Africa, Dr Moydien has been working as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at the hospital until deciding to join the Melomed Hospital group.
Dr Moydien is available for consultation at Melomed Tokai and Melomed Bellville. As a Specialist Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon, he has expertise in minimally invasive open and endovascular surgery with a particular interest in the treatment of peripheral arterial disease, aneurysms, varicose veins, diabetic foot and vascular trauma.
